Imperative – Προστακτική

English: We use the imperative to give rules, orders or instructions. The verb starts the sentence.

Ελληνικά: Χρησιμοποιούμε την προστακτική για κανόνες, οδηγίες και συμβουλές.

  • Walk on the pavement.
  • Look left and right.
  • Don’t run across the street.
  • Don’t pick the flowers.

can / can’t – επιτρέπεται / δεν επιτρέπεται

English: We use can for permission and can’t when something is not allowed.

Ελληνικά: Το can δείχνει ότι κάτι επιτρέπεται. Το can’t δείχνει ότι κάτι δεν επιτρέπεται.

  • You can play football in the playground.

must / mustn’t – πρέπει / δεν πρέπει

English: We use must for obligation and strong rules. We use mustn’t for things that are forbidden.
