English: After like, enjoy, love and hate, we usually use the -ing form.

prefer … to …

English: We use prefer … to … to say that we like one thing more than another.

Ελληνικά: Το χρησιμοποιούμε όταν προτιμάμε κάτι περισσότερο από κάτι άλλο.

  • I prefer table tennis to chess.
  • They prefer playing outside to sitting at home.
  • I prefer drawing to watching TV.

Present Simple affirmative

English: Use Present Simple for habits, routines and general facts.

Ελληνικά: Το χρησιμοποιούμε για συνήθειες, προγράμματα και γενικές αλήθειες.

  • I use the Internet after school.
  • You check your e-mails every day.
  • We play computer games at the weekend.
  • They talk to friends online.
  • He uses a computer at school.
  • She checks her e-mails on Friday.

  • Nadine enjoys studying.

he / she / it: spelling

English: With he/she/it, add -s or -es. If the verb ends in consonant + y, change y to -ies.

Ελληνικά: Στο he/she/it το ρήμα αλλάζει. Προσέχουμε την ορθογραφία.

  • play – she plays
  • watch – he watches
  • study – she studies
  • enjoy – he enjoys
  • go – it goes
  • fly – the bird flies

Negative: don’t / doesn’t

English: Use don’t with I/you/we/they and doesn’t with he/she/it. After doesn’t, the verb stays simple.

Ελληνικά: Μετά το doesn’t δεν βάζουμε -s στο ρήμα.

  • I don’t go to school on Sundays.
  • We don’t play games for hours.
  • He doesn’t like tests.
  • She doesn’t watch the news.

Questions: Do / Does

English: Use Do or Does to ask Present Simple questions.

Ελληνικά: Για ερωτήσεις στον Present Simple χρησιμοποιούμε Do ή Does.

  • Does Mark live in London?
  • Yes, he does. / No, he doesn’t.
