Grammar Corner
countable/uncountablesome/anyhow much/how manyfew/littlesense verbsadjective order
English: Countable nouns can be singular/plural: an apple, two apples. Uncountable nouns do not normally take plural: milk, sugar, bread.
Ελληνικά: Τα μετρήσιμα έχουν ενικό/πληθυντικό. Τα μη μετρήσιμα δεν μπαίνουν συνήθως σε πληθυντικό.
English: Use a/an with singular countable nouns. Use some in affirmative sentences and any in questions/negative sentences.
Ελληνικά: a/an στον ενικό μετρήσιμο. some σε καταφατικές. any σε ερωτήσεις και αρνήσεις.
English: How many + plural countable nouns. How much + uncountable nouns or money/cost.
Ελληνικά: How many με πληθυντικά μετρήσιμα. How much με μη μετρήσιμα ή τιμή/χρήματα.
English: A few/a little mean some/enough. Few/little mean almost no/not enough.
Ελληνικά: A few/a little = λίγα αλλά αρκετά. Few/little = πολύ λίγα, όχι αρκετά.
English: After look, sound, feel, smell, taste we use adjectives, not adverbs.
Ελληνικά: Μετά από look/sound/feel/smell/taste βάζουμε επίθετο.
English: A natural order is: opinion + size/age/colour + material + noun.
Ελληνικά: Φυσική σειρά επιθέτων: γνώμη + μέγεθος/ηλικία/χρώμα + υλικό + ουσιαστικό.

Project
Create a class shop or online toy order. Choose items, write quantities, unit prices, subtotals and a final total. Present your order in English.

Write a short e-mail explaining what you bought, why you chose it, how much it cost and whether it was good value.
