Sensory Verbs (Ρήματα Αισθήσεων)
Sensory verbs (ρήματα αισθήσεων) help us describe what we see, hear, smell, taste and feel.
1. What are Sensory Verbs? (Τι είναι τα ρήματα αισθήσεων;)
📘 Theory (Θεωρία)
We use sensory verbs to describe how something appears through our senses. They are usually followed by an adjective (επίθετο), not an adverb.
Pattern: subject + sensory verb + adjective
The cake tastes sweet. / The music sounds loud.
✏ Basic Sensory Verbs

They help us give more information about people, food, objects, places, sounds and feelings.
Food
The soup smells good.
The cake tastes sweet.
Objects
The blanket feels soft.
The chair looks old.
Sounds
The song sounds happy.
The bell sounds loud.
People / feelings
You look tired.
I feel happy.
Important note: After sensory verbs we usually use adjectives: It smells good, not It smells well.
